This page is meant to honor those organizations that have given Las Manos a hand. We'd like to thank each and every company or NGO that have partnered with us through the years, and if you have lent a hand but aren't recognized, please let us know so that we can do so. We'd also love to list all individuals who've earned distinction with us; however, with personal photos and descriptions, the page would just be too daunting, so if you fit that description, please take a private nod of gratitude and accept a warm hug from me. Yet again, thanks so much to our contributors for making our thing a possibility and reality. Earth Lodge is a great guesthouse on the outskirts of Antigua. It is renowned for its fantastic views, family-style dinners, and fantastic collection of games. The owners, Bri and Drew, have worked with the school of El Hato for several years now, and as of April 2010, they give our permanent staff in El Hato both housing and assistance with community outreach.
La Cuadra is a punchy magazine published in Antigua. In association with Cafe No Sé, the magazine offers witty world commentary, informative articles, and a great read for sleepy Sunday mornings. They have now printed two articles about Las Manos and are continuous supporters of good causes here in Guatemala. Thanks to Mike and John.
Oxford Language Center is a long-running language school in Guatemala. Oxford offers courses in a myriad of languages, as well as operating Montessori schools. Bryant, the founder of Las Manos, is a co-owner of the academy, which means he and his partner, Scott Lloyd, have given loads of materials, time, and support to Las Manos. Meson Panza Verde is a swank hotel in Antigua, complete with a wonderful restaurant. Panza Verde boosts some of the poshest rooms known to man, awesome vistas, fine decorations, top-notch cuisine, and an atmosphere that reeks of class and cool. They have hosted Las Manos's November art auctions for three years running and, thus, have been instrumental with our fund-raising. ![]() Well in Hand is a holistic nutrition store in Port Elgin, Ontario. The innovative health food store gives customers personalized services and has a registered nutritional consultant on staff to field any nutritional inquiries curious self-preservers might have. Mike and Deb from Well in Hand have donated generously to Las Manos and begun publicizing for us in Canada. ![]() Monoloco is one of Antigua's most beloved restaurants and bars, and it is especially famous for its "nachos as big as your head". When visiting Antigua and simultaneously thirsting for international sports, Monoloco is the place to seek out. In addition to being an awesome place to hang, Billy Burns (owner/operator) and the Monoloco staff supported the school in El Hato (and, of course, Las Manos) by donating an abundance of school supplies in December 2010. Camino Seguro, aka Safe Passage, works with kids and families in Zone 3 of Guatemala City and was Las Manos's first partner in goodness. The NGO provides medical care, educational support, and nutritional services to the most at-risk families living in and around the Guatemala City landfill. Camino Seguro has been an instrumental force in the developing years of Las Manos and, even still, continues to collaborate with us on a regular basis.
