Activity Proposal Sheet We want to assure you that Las Manos is excited to have a variety of activities to offer the kids and that we will welcome all ideas. Unlike some educational NGOs, or NGOs in general, Las Manos invites to use your personal talents, interests, and brilliance in ways that inspire you, us, and the kids. Unfortunately, we must consider the limited resources in El Hato, the students' time and family situations, and the plethora of logistics that are involved with ensuring attendance, adequate real estate, and reachable project goals. This form is not intended to scare you but rather to assist you with considering the things necessary to have a successful activity. You can propose something as simple as a one-hour art project, teaching the kids a game, or juggling lessons. Projects can also be as complex as a two-week photo shoot in which the kids are given access to cameras and a chance to capture the essence of what it is to live in El Hato. What is important, though, is to take those great ideas and make sure they are applicable, possible, and beneficial here before we all start the work of realizing them. So, please, copy this into a Word document or Google Doc, take the hour or so to fill out the form as thoroughly and efficiently as possible, and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Name Email Date Phone Arrival/Departure Activity Briefly explain what you are proposing to do with the kids and what qualifies you to undertake the project. How many students can be involved in the project? What age group is it appropriate for? What sort of space will be needed? What help will you need for this? How many other volunteers will you need? How long (days and hours per day) will the project take? What are the proposed starting and completion dates you'd like to try to reserve? What materials are needed to complete the project? How do you plan to provide the materials and get them to El Hato? What are the objectives of the program? How will it benefit the children and/or community? (Consider: Is your project culturally sensitive and appropriately respectful to local religions, customs and practices?) Other thoughts you'd like share with us or concerns you may have. |
